Feline interest, scary stuff, chortleworthy videos and another attempt to mangle to English language out of all recognition, and tea, but not in that order
The poor cat, but that's lovely that it found an owner. Hopefully the husband has come around now. Well done for doing the right thing and taking it to the vet.
Terry, what a fabulous post - so full of treats! I'm so delighted that the cat story has a happy ending - how lovely.
I interacted with the Joe Coleman slider for absolutely ages - such fun - and gosh, I've seen plenty of examples of every part of the 'hard sell curve' all over the internet!
Another great start to the week (you may thought you'd been late posting this, but it's now late Wednesday afternoon and it's obviously that my timekeeping's pretty 'out there' too......!). 🤣
Cute art. (As noted previously, I really think I’d like spending time with Elaine. Grin.)
And the gendered stuff had a particular focus - ‘A resource for policymakers, legislators, media and anyone else with an interest in making their communication more inclusive.’ It’s all about making things less inflammatory in their published documentation. It is definitely needed at times unfortunately.
Thanks, Beth. I'll tell Elaine. Why in particular?
Thanks for pointing ouit the focus of that document, but if it's aimed at policymakers that's even worse, because they already have difficulty with the English language. For example, the Prime Minsiter stood up in the House of Commons recently and said he was delivering for Britain, which I assume means he's working poart time as a pizza delivery person. But don't get me wrong: I'm all in favour of inclusive language and do my best to use it, but surely that's no excuse for changing the actual meaning of words?
Why do I like the look of Elaine? Look at that smile! How could anyone resist?! (Have I ever mentioned that I think of you as the ‘bah humbug’ man?? You’ve caught that perfectly in your self-portrait. By comparison Elaine doesn’t just have a Mona Lisa smile, it’s full wattage. A very cheery soul.)
The found cat is a beauty. I would have offered to take her immediately. I hope all (including the husband) are adjusting.
I clapped while reading Gendered Language. Right on.
I never thought of myself as a Gothic fan, but I'm a huge fan of British, French, Danish, German, and Swedish murder mystery TV series and movies. Does that make me a Gothic fan? Asking for a friend. The cigar adverts were fantastic and moody. Really great.
You're welcome, and some are WAY too gruesome and brutal for me. I selectively don't watch a lot of certain parts/scenes of some series or movies because I don't need to see - or want to remember - the depths of cruelty some can go. I like a good plot, with a good twist, and would love to see a fantastic series or show without over-the-top, excessive, in-your-face violence.
Your art is a hoot! I look forward to each week to see what you've come up with.
It's weird that the cat's collar didn't have an id on it. Or even a charm or something hanging off with the id. People who have pets must not care much for them if they are dumping them. I don't know why they don't take them to the shelters. Maybe with them being full, they couldn't find a place to put them. There are other avenues like selling them/or giving them away in the classified ads or putting up flyers advertising the pets to a nice home. I don't get these people who do the wrong thing.
I laughed at the lady's husband that was probably upset when she got home. :)
Thanks Matthew! Im surprised i haven't been invited to become a member of the Royal Academy. I agree with you: I said the same thing to Elaine when we found this cat. Lol re husband!
Under the skin between the shoulder blades apparently; a vet. In England all vet practices have a scanner that can read microchips put in by other vets.

. Elaine always knows what to do in such circumstances
PS I laughed a lot at your footnote ;)
😂😂 the receptionist and I had a good chortle while Elaine tried to ignore it so as not to encourage me!
😅😅

Thanks Rebecca. Coleman: it's a hoot isn't! 🤣🤣
I am happy that that outside cat found a new home. :).
' one does not normally associate sleepy English villages with Murder Incorporated'
Ever watch MIDSOMER MURDERS? Ha ha!
Thanks Olga.
Midsomer murders: i have often wondered why anyone would continue to live in a place where people were constantly being bumped off 🤣
Cute art. (As noted previously, I really think I’d like spending time with Elaine. Grin.)

Fun cigar ads too.
Thanks Terry. All the best.

bah humbug: LOL
Love the family portrait.

Thanks Mary! I think your TV tastes makes u a gothic fan. I like some of them, but some are too gruesome.

A handsome family portrait! Thank you for caring about the stray cat, Terry. Good man.
Thanks. SHARRON, but Elaine is the most compassionate and at the same time knowledgeable and therefore useful person to have in such situations

I read Carlos Greaves's piece. It was hilarious.

Thank you.
a pleasure
What part of the body is the microchip put on the pet, and who does it?
(Non-pet owner but writer about domestic animals doing research).
