Brilliant Steely Dan reference. That alone makes me smile - but I also enjoyed (as always) your Oulipo-inspired outings! In this one it's almost like you were channeling Lonnie, after he swept the playroom ....

I'd not heard of Lonnie before, so thanks!

'The Boston Rag' is one of my all-time favourite Steely Dan songs, from a criminally underrated album. For me, I love that you can be shopping in a department store or supermarket and in the background their music is playing: dark, decadent, depraved lyrics that no one is listening to, set to the most engaging jazz/rock/funk. The definition of subversive, from a band that took their name from a dildo.

This version made me think of the movie, Groundhog Day. And maybe on its way to being Pulp Fiction?

So far, I've seen only half of Groundhog Day and none of Pulp Fiction. However, I know enough about the former to be able to say that yes, there are similarities. 😁

Must watch the rest. 🙏

Classic and great song by Steely Dan! I don't know a huge amount of their work, but certainly no this one.

Not sure what specific questions are being raised.

Does the loop go on forever? Is that one of them?

Thanks, Terry, for the rejuvenating Steely Dan. 1973. I was never more alive than I was in 1973! When I think about it, I am living only a half-life now, my sell-by date long long past. At least I am alive to remember and reflect. A lot of my contemporaries are not. Interesting time loop, my friend, in several ways.

Oh that's a sad comment in a way. Half-life: you're brining a lot of pleasure to many people with your stories and commen ts; that counts for a lot, right? Actually, 1973 was a really horrible year for me!

You've pegged it, Terry. My writing is what sustains me now. My biggest joy is receiving one comment that shows my words touched one person today. PLUS I get to use my big-girl words - the ones that are still revolving in my brain but are totally un-exercised in my real life. ha ha ha. They have to be let out to air. Thanks for being supportive, your high-ness.

A multi-day loop! For some reason I always imagine a 24-hour cycle. Not sure how you’d realise it’s still Wednesday morning when still so disoriented in the middle of the night. Definitely different. And I’m hoping the idea didn’t arise from you running into the wall AGAIN!!! Take care Terry. All the best.

First question: "Where am I?" Second question: "What's the matter with me?" Love the music videos, too. Experiments in Style is one of my fave Susbtacks to read, by the way. 😀

Ground hog day, the movie comes to mind, time loop. Then dream repetition continuation until a problem is solved.
