A terrific read, Terry - and gosh, Maharishi - what a wise, wise man. I feel as if I've learned a great deal.
As for the idiot phrases the powers that be come up with: heck, their subtext is a million miles from what they're trying to sound as if they're saying. 'The Prime Minister has full confidence in [soon to be sacked Cabinet minister]' is always a dead giveaway. Say it like it IS, people!!!!!!! 🙄
Anecdote in the book about his body not decaying. I've read the book twice. When I need an answer to a problem I just turn at random and point my finger to a paragraph. There's always an answer.
By all means, Terry! I love a good guru story! I have a few myself.
You reminded me of George W. Bush, who was President during the Dick Cheney administration: he proclaimed: No Child Left Behind, without pushing for any increase in education funding.
Thanks, Cary. Are you going to write about them? I seem to re4member reading a couple of your guru-reloated stories.
I remember NCLB. We had a similar thing here called Every Child Matters. It was like an elephant giving birth: done at a very high level, with a lot of noise, and two years to see results.
Thanks for your section on the Maharishi. He was so well known in the '70s -- everyone was reading and talking about his book of meditations ( in California, anyway). I remember he was on the cover of Time Magazine and we were all stunned. He was known as the Giggling Guru, he was such an imp. I remember he was "really old" in our young minds, at the time. He must have lived into his 90s. Golly that takes me back. What an era to be alive in California.
Oh yes, I should have mentioned his nickname! He was 91. I was always envious of the people my age living in California: great music, lovely sunshine and beautiful women. <Sigh>
Another book? LOL I'm afraid I don't have an awful lot more to say about it, so it would be a very thin book 😁
Relativity? All I know about that is Einstein's explanation to a journalist: sit on a hot stove for a minute and it seems like an hour; sit next to a pretty girl for an hour and it seems like a minute!

Thanks, Rebecca. Yes, he was very wise, funny too. "Full confidence" the kiss of death.
🤣

Oh yes, that's right. I had a similar experience of opening the book, so it's nice to hear you nsaying that too.
Enjoying your story about Maharashi, I thought, how my country could've been happier with people like the gurus instead of communists.
Thanks, Larisa. Indeed.

More guru stories! Both of us!
😁

Terry, Santa Cruz in particular has both lovely sunshine AND a beautiful woman of our mutual acquaintance.
oh? oozat?
Sharron, of course. x
I thought that's who you were referring to, but i wasn't sure if she lives 8n santander cruz
Not to mention that everyone was high and half-naked... now THAT was a combination!
And I was an 18 year-old male with my hormones in full swing. Imagine that!
Steady on, old bean! 😲
🤣
And long-hair-handsome with a sparkle in the eye. I know. I have seen the photo...
LOL
Ever Read Autobiography of a Yogi by guru Paramahansa Yoganda? Enlightening.
Indeed. One of the things on my list to talk about.
Lake shrine in Las Angeles was saved from burning in the Palisades fire earlier in year.
Not surprised. I read once that they exhumed Yogananda's body six months after he'd died, and it hadn't decayed.
Thx for the mention. 🙏
I loved reading two different juror experiences. And in the same week. The collective consciousness at work.
You met the Maharishi! Sounds like the beginning of a book. The wisest people have a great sense of humor.
I’m stumped on the algorithm. Theory of Relativity?
You're welcome!
Yes, synchronicity!
