What a special bond Willow and Moo Moo had! Animals are amazing creatures. I’m so glad Willow was perked up by her new companions. Life is meant to be lived with friends.
Thanks, Holly. Yes, definitely a special bond, and even though Willow and I are brothers (when I told a nurse that she said yez, I can see the likeness) I'm not a ca t so it wasn't the same. He is very happy now though. Like you say, life is meant to be lived with frii
I feel your discomfort when, days later, you're still thinking about the guy playing the sax while laying down (wow!) and wish you would've been able to give him something. I am the same, I would carry that with me and consider trying to find him again to drop a few coins, which isn't exactly a useful way to roll through the world because there's always something like that lurking in our minds😂. Busking is probably less lucrative work these days in our almost cash-free world, never thought of that until you mentioned it.
Sorry about your lovely cat Terry and happy birthday!
I agree with everything you say, Donna. One of the problems here in London is there are so many people begging. Hard to know who's genuine but even if I did I could be bankrupt in a week. It's much easier to say sorry, no cash, and be telling the truth.
A very sweet tribute to little MooMoo. He was a good friend. If your love could have kept him alive, he would have lived forever. How we miss them! I loved the photo with MooMoo. It was the first photo I have seen of you without the grouchy face! Cats will do that to us. Ha Ha Ha.
I am so glad you have found Jim Cummings, Terry. He is a fine fiction writer and earns admiration with every piece he puts out there.
Thanks Sharron. I have to have what you call a grouchy face (I prefer to think of it as serious intellectual) because I think smiling on photos is overrated. Yes, definitely would have lived forever. I think in that photo I was feeling unutterably sad because of poor Moo Moo
Thanks for the mention Terry! And happy almost Bath Day. I'll bet the entire household is l giddy with anticipation for the big day.
Really enjoyed the speech by Ian Gow and your tribute to Moo Moo. The footnotes version of your story is the funniest yet. Now keep learning how to work that saxophone! We all would love to hear a sample some day soon.
I have been recording my practice, for my own porpoises, but Elaine says I should publish them so that people can perhaps learn from or be encouraged by the progress (which is a huge assumption). Well, I will in due course (I live only to obey), thereby guaranteeing the loss of half my subscribers 😱
Thanks so much for the shoutout, Terry! I'm inspired to pull out my dusty banjo and look for a Banjo for Beginners book at the library. I'll be sure to start in the fiction section.
Is that Jacob R M behind Ian thing?! I think it might be. Obviously loves hogging the limelight even when he is a mere supporting player. I am some sort of paying person Terry but I dare say I am yet another muddle with all my subscriptions so the money might not have found it’s way to you. Some outfit called Conde Nast however have managed to avail themselves of just over four pounds from my bank account - I think they must be behind the fancy recipe site I oh so quickly took a liking to. Enough from me. I did publish yesterday so consequently have spent much of today in a darkened room. Not on Marple - obviously.
😂 re darkened room. I don't think it's Jacob TO but not sure as the recording was made nearly 40 years ago. Thanks re sub, tis very good of you. I don't think it's appeared yet. Hope you get the Conde Nast thing sorted out
It’s just the way of the world me thinks - Conde Nast and all the rest of the big hitters New York Times yadda yadda. It can’t be him - I kind of realised that as I typed it out. It certainly looks a lot like him however!
Thanks for condolences, Mary. Good luck with the flute. Apparently it's similar fingering to the sax. Thanks re selfie. It's part of my Left Bank series 😂
A great start to the week, Terry! That first televised House of Commons speech was a very poignant watch - I remember the IRA blast at Hankham in 1990 - my favourite teacher was a friend of Ian Gow's and lived very close to where the tragedy happened. So very sad. But oh gosh, he should have been on the stage - I'm so glad you posted the clip. Ditto the street saxophonist - wow! Tell me, are you going to be playing Recumbent Sax, or Upright?
Such a lovely tribute to Moo Moo - he sounded very special.
Thank you for the link to Abigail Warren's post - it was goosepimpling.
Thanks Rebecca. In answer to your question, I'm a pretty stand up guy. On the other hand I'm quite laid back. Therefore as a compromise I shall play at an angle of 45 degrees.

I have a very different Moo-Moo story, but I hope it’s one that will make you laugh: https://open.substack.com/pub/glenncook/p/the-zoo-story-moo-moo-and-scribbles?r=727x&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post
Definitely a laugh. I enjoyed that post.
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
SUCH an amazing read, Glenn - I'm so glad you posted that link! I'll be laughing for a while! 🤣
Me too! It's inspired me to post a few chortleworthy things the kids I taught have come out with!
Thank you! Appreciate it.
Thanks Glen. Very enjoyable 😁
Thanks you! Glad you liked it.
I am very sorry that you and your wife lost Moo Moo.
He sounds like he was a wonderful kitty. :).
Thanks Olga. Yes he was very sweet. He loved being outside all day long.

Thanks Jim. I did consider inflicting a brief recording on my readers, but I didn't want to alienate the music lovers among my readers 😂
Your audience demands it - isn't that right, Jim?
That's at least TWO of us, Terry - so get on it!
Yes, a Bathday sax solo!
You will need to discuss it with my agent, Miss Minty

Typical. You wimmin always stick together 😡

😂 You're most welcome, Julie. Somewhere here I have a ukulele that I started teaching myself many years ago.

It's cos they all looked smart in those days
So funny mostly and then so sad about Moo Moo, condolences, and what a busy man you are! Go Sax. I'm working on the flute! Love the selfie! xo ~Mary

I did wonder. Yes it is not Monday.
Sorry!
