Loved the ad! The gorilla ad is another one of my faves.
Thank you for reading my Grenfell post and including it here. It was very kind of you. Better awareness will encourage people to use safer products in their homes. The sad part is it’s preventable if builders care enough to take a different approach.
Keep those videos coming. Always enjoy seeing old ads. That one is before my time.
Also, I'm not much a aeroplane/military person, but those flybys were pretty cool. We used to get some F-something fighter jet go overhead in Melbourne every March/April when the gran prix was on (we live quite close to Albert Park) is the noise is just staggering. It's not done a flyby the last two years, I assume for budget cuts or perhaps some other reason.
Thanks for the Kurt link. Saving that for listening to later.
The fly past is quite interesting, because you get to see many different types of aircraft. I'm not a military person either but this is always exciting. Yes, the noise is quite something I agree
The old tv advert for mashed potatoes was strange. I only know Cadbury for candy. I didn't know they were involved in other food products.
Didn't see the people waving at you on the escalator. Maybe that's next time. 🤣
I did not know about the Grenfell disaster. The accompanying link was very interesting. It's hard to believe if the spray foam was the main cause why this is still used. I know they constantly show it being used in homes across the U.S.
I don't know if they still do food products apart from chocolate. I need to take the escalator video again. I've tried three times so far, and each time I manage only to get a glimpse of the waving. I suppose the foam is used because it's cheap, or a lot of peopple weren't aware it';s flammable
Me again - I'd forgotten to say in my previous comment that I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying 'Girl, Woman, Other'. I had won a copy of the book in a raffle last year, and when I opened it and saw the very - how shall I put this? - inventive text presentation I thought 'oh, goodness me'.
Yet it was SUCH an impressive read - I was utterly gripped from start to finish, and lost count of the number of times I laughed and the number of hankies I got through. Extraordinary, beautiful, epic.
I'm only 89 pages in and loving it. I had a similar reaction to you when I saw the layout, but quickly warmed to it. It's like a series of prose poems. I've taught teens like Jazz and they were wonderful: really sharp, and with a great sense of humour!
I really enjoyed this video edition of 'Start the week', Terry! Sadly I was unable to get your escalator video to load, but so far I've enjoyed the instant mashed potato advert (interesting that the aliens were modelled on Zippy from Rainbow, but I'll let that go), and the wonderful flypast in honour of the King's birthday. I hadn't caught any of the TV coverage of Saturday's festivities, so I really appreciated the link!
Saving Kurt Vonnegut for another day, but thank you in advance. 😊

It's a great advert isn't it? Completely bonkers!
The cat, of course!
(Back in a bit, once I've read the rest of your post. Just wanted to answer your question in the picture caption first.)
😂 I KNEW you would get it, Rebecca!
🤣
Loved the Kurt Vonnegut video. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Vee. Great, isn't it
Yes! I’ve forwarded your article to 2 of my friends who are also writers.
Oh thanks very much, Vee. I hope they enjoy it too.
