Deadpan delivery spot-on there. You can just tell what's coming by the way he approaches the mic.

Thanks for some early Wednesday morning laughs, Terry.

Bike ride sounds a bit hectic with all those people, though I imagine the atmosphere might be fun.

Enjoy the week. May there be more fruitful and less technology-inhibiting writing days ahead.

Thanks Nathan. Hectic it was, but fun. The children always make me laugh 😁

That sculpture of Oscar Wilde is fab, isn't it? You probably already know that it's by Maggi Hambling. I love her work.

Loved the Cookson spot. His artificial leg bit reminds me of a joke I heard this week (the Sirius/XM comedy channel....can't remember the comic)....."A severed foot would make the perfect stocking stuffer." Plus, his stool sample joke was perfectly constructed and timed.....as soon as he mentioned "stool sample," he got right into the punch line, so none of us could beat him to it! His dead-pan is world class....many of his ilk, can't help but, at least, grin a little bit!

If you've not heard (or heard of), here's another non-sequitur comic (not deadpan), American, Demetri Martin, whom I met briefly a decade ago (he was signing his book, "A Book"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg_rZ6E4xI0

Thanks for the link, Kyle. Will check Demetri out. Love some good non-sequitur comedy.

You betcha, Nathan! My bro did stand-up in the late-'70s/early-'80s, and I helped write his act. I've even written an act for myself; I've just never put it on its legs! You might also check out Gary Gulman and Jeff Caldwell. Both pretty dang hilarious! Each can probably be found on both YouTube and (Caldwell, anyway) on Spotify. Enjoy!

Wow Brad, amazing! That's so great. You should do it!

Thanks for the other tips.

PS whoops hit Save prematurely, but thankfully edit exists.

Thanks for the encouragement, Nathan, but it's one of those things that if I had truly been motivated, I'd-a done it! It's not for fear....I've taught, sung, played flute, and plenty of other stuff "in front of people." I think I'm finding it more satisfying to bring the funny to my writing, FRONT ROW & BACKSTAGE! And, you're in the room!👏

Balderdash! You need to get out on stage. You know it makes sense.

It makes sense all right, but sadly, too few dollars.😁

Yes, the dead pan-ness is brilliant, and definitely agree with you about the stool joke! Thanks for the link: great! 😂

Enjoyed the comedy spot ..the Essential Oils bit. I always find Libraries uncomfortable. If ya can't dodge the foreign students ya won't get a seat. Once you've scored a spot and sorted out the computer I guess it's ok.

Loved this, Terry - another great start to the week! Nice one with 'Ride London' - what a lovely thing. I'd never heard of it, but it's over two decades since I last lived there, and probably five years since I last even visited, so fair enough. Sounds like a great day, anyway.

Loved the one-liners - the first one and the very last one in particular. Thanks for the giggles - most chortleworthy! 🤣

Thanks, Rebecca. I'd have liked to have captured more of the day, but my bike camera is away for repair.

I don't know where you read the post, but I added an update to the published version. You might find that chortleworthy too!

It's funny - I first read your post when it arrived, with a view to revisiting it when I knew I had more time to ponder and comment this afternoon - and when I opened it a second time later I noticed the new chunk of text! Really enjoyed the addition. 😊
