Being a "semi-Brit" as you so aptly described me, I love the lifelike drawings of Chas and Cam. So exciting to be a part of the festivities, even if only in front of a screen. But the real gem of this post is your selfie!
Still working on the tea consumption... well, considering is probably a more accurate description. I almost made a cup of tea last week, but on the way to the pantry some undone task caught my eye. I'll renew my efforts again this week. In the meantime, I'm enjoying a cup of Java as I write this. Cheers!
"Semi-Brit": 🤣 I';ve never had Java. Wouldn't even know where to get it. I need the hard stuff. How can anyone "almost" drink tea? Glad you like my drawings, thank you. They took me days to perfect, as you can probably tell. Why do u like the selfie? Is it the remorseless precision of my profile? 🤣
Agree with your essay on experts. If they genuinely present me with a better alternative, I’m going to be all over it! But just calling oneself an “expert” isn’t enough to make me a convert. They gotta deliver the goods!
First and most importantly, Terry, thank you for the clue to solving the mystery within your latest OuLiPo post - tsk - I don't know how I hadn't worked it out before*. 🙄
Also, thank you for these brilliant links to explore, and for your wonderful words and art, as always. A bonus for me this time was the reference to one of the best passages in my favourite book, Three Men in a Boat - thanks for that!
Something weird going on cos your further comment has no reply button. Ok, sorry, but your art is so much better than mine. Oulipo: I'm not sure whether or not to give another clue. I don't want to spoil it for you

I think Substack have been 'improving' things - the reply button is missing on a lot of comments I want to reply to (I end up going back into the comments anew, and that usually makes it appear). Annoying.
Oh, and don't give another clue. Was joking. Keep us guessing, Prof Tel! 🤣

Yes, I did! And I do NOT have low standards - remember that your art is what first encouraged me to include art in my own posts - so you're tarring MINE with that 'low standards' brush. Sir, I am affronted. 😉
Well, I'm stumped with this latest OuLiPuzzle. 'ALL' of the things you've changed have 'one thing in common'? Are you sure? There's such a diversity to the word categories in which you've made replacements. Some nouns - but not all - have been replaced with other nouns. And plenty of adjectives and adjectival phrases have been playing a merry game of musical chairs with the contents, I'm sure, of more than just one dictionary.
Is it something to do with the abstract? Specifics becoming less than specific? That's the only way I can see 'wall' becoming 'brickwork' alongside all of the other - very different - stuff you've changed. Sheesh. In truth, I've no idea.
Terry, although I am a well-practised over-thinker I'm pretty much at the stage where I can smell burning rubber... So, as this is clearly a health and safety issue I would stress the importance of putting me out of my misery ASAP. 😉

It seems to me that your doctor owes you some refund money on all those other visits. Or better yet, you need to find a new doctor.

"They gotta deliver the goods" Yes, exactly!
Lots of words, thoughts, beautifully, intelligently, and with an originality of composition in your writings/musings/stories!
Thankyou (all)
🙋♀️
Thanks, Dorinda
"... have one thing in common."

The reply button is not there but I click where it's supposed to be and the reply box comes up.
Alright, Becks. Your wish is my command 🙊
Ps health and safety?? 😂
Yup. My brain has nearly had it - the overheating is becoming dangerous. #yourfault 😉
😵
You actually liked my art? Boy, do you have low standards 😂 But thank you very much. You will kick yourself when I divulge what I did 😈

Thanks so much for quoting my sub!
Of course! 😃
