PS I should have said: I reserve the right to not publish anything that could land me in court, or anything I don't like for whatever reason. The editor's decision is final, so there.
I thought of 2 6-word stories while riding this morning. I'll use the form to submit! Wait! I just went to the Google form and realized that you're looking for book reviews. Rats! I have 2 6-word stories I'll share here:
Turn around don't drown many lost (it's a Texas thing)
No, it can be a review of anything, so please submit, via the firm or ill just forget. I will amend the form when I'm no longer on a train! Six word stories will do.
Hmm, this was interesting, and a good challenge. Can I add a single-sentence story? “They didn’t come to the wedding because Peggy’s husband was the least liberated man in the world.” Apparently I dropped this sentence at an anniversary party I was at yesterday and my daughter-in-law found it baffling, so when my wife asked about it I realized there was a long and complicated story lurking behind those few words. Love Rebecca’s additions.
Thank you, Terry, for choosing to include my one-sentence stories here. And thanks to all for your encouraging comments. I wrote one novel, and it took over a year. I'm afraid I could be dead before finishing another one. I am sticking with flash fiction. As for a six-word review, now there is a challenge... I am heading over to Jim Cummings' All Day Long right now for a little inspiration.
Thanks, Nathan, and a clear indication that your priorities are messed up. Next time, throw a sickie! 😂 Would be great if you could submit a six word review 😆
I read your reviews in your 'morsels' post. They were great: did what they needed to do. In other words, when you say you feel you are rubbish at reviews, be aware that that opinion is not shared by everybody!
I’ve always been scared of micro fiction, these are wonderful examples. Love the description of the room being painted a “thunderous red”—I’m transported there immediately
Recently, I finished reading Monica Zgustova's very boring novel with an intriguing title "A revolver to Carry at Night" about Vera Nabokov. My 6 word review: Whether Nabokov turned in his coffin?
Thanks, Larissa. Great review. Would you mind cutting and pasting into the form I linked to, otherwise I'm likely to forget it. It will take literally 2 minutes. Cheers!
Terry, thanks for liking my short 'review' but I am so ignorant in the technics of Substack that I couldn't replace it in the form you linked to. Sorry.
I wished I could keep my mind focused on writing a book but all I can manage is a few sentences in a response or short stories. What was the question again?
Oh Sharron, such a lovely suggestion, thank you. I’m not sure why, but writing fiction feels so daunting - almost scary! Maybe I need to put my big-girl pants on and have a go!
PS I should have said: I reserve the right to not publish anything that could land me in court, or anything I don't like for whatever reason. The editor's decision is final, so there.
😎
Well I've entered but in truthi am not a short form man. More a long winded one...
LOL. Then this is a great challenge for you! Chortle.

Puzzle deciphered, ransom paid, still missing

I have a book to review! Yay! I'll submit the form. :-)
Great! Looking forward to reading it 😀

Great story, and I for one am intrigued and would love to hear the full version 😀
I’m already working on it!
Fantastic!
Golly, I think in paragraphs!
I'm stumped.
Well, think of a one sentence paragraph, Prue 😁
Good point.
Did you send something in? If so, I look forward to reading it. If not, why not? It's free. Chortle.
Ohhh what a great challenge! One of my favorites is the famous, "For sale baby shoes never worn" which one can read about here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_sale:_baby_shoes,_never_worn
I'm going to give it a go! What fun!
That's a famous one, possibly by hemingway. Thanks for the link, will read later

These are all great, Terry and co.
As I said in the previous article, I love how these give a sense of intrigue and mystery and could serve so well as the opening to a larger story.
Sorry again that I didn't manage to make a contribution.

Haha, I will try, but I feel I’m rubbish for reviews.
Have watched quite a few films lately, will need to think on what’s worthy of a micro review.
I read your reviews in your 'morsels' post. They were great: did what they needed to do. In other words, when you say you feel you are rubbish at reviews, be aware that that opinion is not shared by everybody!
Haha thanks Terry :D
YW
Brilliant

Interesting, Will. You mean scared to read or to write?
scared to write them! Every word becomes do or die
Go on, take the risk!
That's a very good way of putting it!
Another terrific read. (Just popped across to Sharron’s Substack and read her latest. A talented writer.)
Thanks, Beth. I agree. I've no idea how she manages to write so many stories.
I eat, I sleep, I write. That's all I have to do now. Yay.
Sounds like a recipe for a contented life. I add pummeling our cats. Each to thir own. Chortle.
Oh yes, I can see the attraction...

Oh, ok.
These are so cool! I love challenges like this. I love Sharron Bassano's third one. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Jen. Yes, Sharron is brilliant at very short writing. I like that third one too.
I wished I could keep my mind focused on writing a book but all I can manage is a few sentences in a response or short stories. What was the question again?
🤣🤣 Fair enough, Paul, but you weren't asked to write a book, just a review! I mean, you could do a six-word review of a Substack newsletter you like.
Oooooh, I LOVE things like this! Great post, Terry - and your contributors.
'What the... BANG!' is my favourite! 🙌 Awesome work, Beth T!
Thanks, Rebecca! Yes, short and sweet! 😁
Bit like me, then. 😉
I was going to say that, but you're very tall, unless that's just the 6" stilettos 😂
Rebecca? In stilettos? What an image that is.
🤣
🤣
I have been waiting for you to give us some fiction, Rebecca. Your wonderful sentences here show me you have it. Now... a 50-word story, please.
Oh Sharron, such a lovely suggestion, thank you. I’m not sure why, but writing fiction feels so daunting - almost scary! Maybe I need to put my big-girl pants on and have a go!
That's the next challenge as it happens!
