This is fascinating. I am a writer on Medium, and last year began a short piece with an email of my own, in which I resigned my temporary gig with a supremely annoying parking lot magnate.

I embroidered on reality a bit to insert a homicidal 26 year old doppelganger at the office who was trying to assassinate me.

If you would care to read, I would be most honored! -

I'll not lie Terry, I came here hoping that this post was you writing the short story in the form of an actual Index!

Actually, Nathan, I've already written that ,as well as several others I just haven't posted them yet. I think I'm going to have to schedule them or they'll just fester on my computer. Thanks for the prod!

Hello from 2025, Nathan Slake!

You might enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind book by UK author Dennis Duncan on the index ("Index, A History of the - A Bookish Adventure from Medieval Manuscripts to the Digital Age").

This book contains not one but TWO indices, one that is computer-generated then duly sliced, diced and filleted by Duncan, and a second by the redoubtable Paula Bain, a leader in the UK indexing community and, as the author puts it, "a human being."

Cheers!

I am very much looking forward to reading this, Terry! As time allows, I am aspiring to add some indexing work to my grab bag of writing/editing skills.

Thank you and best regards,

Maureen M. ("Moe")
