Would love to know what happened to the piece I wrote yesterday, titled THOSE WERE THE YEARS or something like that. After writing and sending it I got asked to provide a title and, poof, couldn't for the life of me find it again. No doubt lost in the clouds.
I was hoping your labelling was going to end up being:
Awake ("A"), Bed ("B"), bathroom ("B"), Cat ("C"), door ("D"), wall ("W"), headache ("H"), hospital ("H"), book ("B") just to layer on a bit of absurdity ;)
I had been going to comment pithily about the inclusion of the cat in this latest experiment in style, as it had not been mentioned in the original text. However, I read on and noticed you'd taken care of that in your notes at the end! You're forgiven.
Great links, thank you - and I don't just mean the one to my own post! 😉 Most kind of you! 😁
Why? Just cuz. Kidding. I am a visual person and I also love art. Words can transport me into a different world, but a picture or drawing is extra. When I was reading the portion of your post describing the incident, I could picture it in my mind and I felt your pain. Having the pictorial/map to refer to confirmed what I pictured in my mind, but with extra detail, like the cat and the hospital sign saying “don’t come if you are ill”. I also just enjoyed seeing your drawing. I love drawing, when I have the time and am not trying to do it “perfectly”, so I appreciate that form of storytelling.

oh. have you looked in Drafts?
Ah another great Experiments in Style.
Great experimentation.

Ha ha! I didn't think of that TBH, Nathan. That would have been more logical in many respects!
Love how you’re thinking about the relationship between words & images here!
Thanks, Jillian. I often use illustrations in my notes - not just doodles (plenty of those!) but as shorthand.
Such a great maptogram, Terry - I love this!

Maptogram? I like that word. Thanks for kind comments, Rebecca.
🤣 Kind of made it up - but it does work, doesn't it?! 😃
Loved the ancillary artwork. Your contribution here changed my mood. Thanks.
For the better I hope? 😂 Thanks, Dimitri
I love the pictorial version!
Thanks Amy
Me too! Somehow it both reduces and extends the story. I love seeing personality in sketching.
Reduce and extend: a great expression. Thanks, Kathleen
How "it both reduces and extends the story." Perfectly stated!
definitely!
😂 thanks, Amy. Why?
