Terry, this is such a clever variation of your story - it follows the format perfectly both of your original test AND of Mastermind. Awesome work.
I have absolutely no clue how Ronnie Corbett managed to keep a straight face through all that. Those two were absolutely brilliant, and greatly missed. Ditto Morecambe and Wise, of course.
How you come up with all these, I just can't imagine! So clever. I watched all the videos because I had ever seen the show, and then got lost on Youtube ... Kermit the cat, dads and babies, Regal Gentlemen haircuts, yard cleaning, Gizmo the parrot ......... an hour later I blinked and I did come back and finish your story. Glad I found my way back..
If it was a Roland Barthes reader then I'd pass... And I'm impressed he managed seventeen percent. Your general knowledge round starter is what is seventeen percent as a decimal...
I feel a bit reluctant saying this publicly, but at the risk of sounding like an uneducated illiterate pleb, I may have overstated the 17% (because I had to be consistent with the original story). I've actually been able to read only three short bits of Barthes' essays because I think they're a load of unreadable BS. I can always recognise BS because I'm so good at it myself.
Definitely a story of split personalities. Totally enjoyed Morecamb and Wise and I definitely remember seeing the Two Ronnie’s take on Mastermind when it was first aired.
My take is that you are helping yourself and everyone who reads to see novel, unexpected perspectives. Even when not enjoyed--this one seemed too long for what it did, but still had value and held my interest. And expanded my ideas without encroaching on anything else regarding writing.
Indeed, Jill. Interesting that you thought it was too long: the original one was a bit shorter but I thought it was TOO short! What did you mean by "without encroaching on anything else regarding writing"? Thanks

Thanks, Rebecca. The first thing I said to E after we watched it was: How on earth did Ronnie Corbett keep a straight face -- or not get confused!
🤣 He was a real profesh, that’s for sure. And together those two were more than the sum of their already highly accomplished parts!
This is so utterly brilliant and original, Terry! How do you do it?!
aw, shucks. Thanks, Nathan.

Oh thank you. Yes, i end up wasting loads of time in the YT rabbit hole. Good fun though!

And how!
Er, you mean what said about Barthes,
Or what i said about myself? 🤣
Um... yes?
😂 thanks!
Brilliant!
Thanks, Prue 😀

Me too. I thought it was very clever. 😀
