That was excellent, Terry. I wish I had your determination when I was a child or a teacher who gave a damn. I can't even remember any od

Their names except one. And I still can't pronounce it.

Terry, As someone who has spent the last 30 years of my life teaching, I have come to understand the impact one teacher, one comment, can change EVERYTHING! We have no idea (but maybe we really do) understand the impact we have on lives, or even one single life. I loved your story— proof of the influence, the consequences we experience and create for others. Thank you for sending this post along. Abby

Fantastic story! People don’t know what impact they can make speaking words of kindness and encouragement. Changes everything. Glad you got to experience it.

I remember this post well.

There was a teacher in elementary school who really took time out to pay attention to me, and it felt like sunlight for that very shy little girl who never seemed to be able to raise her hand and participate. And that sunlight is still warm.

A teacher that can be compassionate without losing discernment is gold.

Excuse me, I think there's something in my eye... What a wonderful post about determination and progress, Terry. Really moving. I don't remember all of my teachers' names, but I remember my own Mr Dale. He was called Mr Anderson, and he was amazing. :D
