Greetings! I’m Terry Freedman, a freelance writer since 1990 (at least, that was when I first got paid for my writing). I write about the craft of writing, reviews of (mainly) nonfiction books, experimental writing and everyday life.
I set up this newsletter both to have fun writing whatever I want to, and to share some of the expertise I’ve acquired over the years. In short, the purposes of this newsletter are both enjoyment and helping people improve their nonfiction writing.
Most of the stuff here is free, but there’s a paid-for tier for people who want to go deeper into some of the techniques I use, find out about the technology I use or have tried and pick up some useful hints and tips.
Here are a few links to help you decide if this newsletter is for you.

This is a popular feature in which I discuss things I’ve seen, read or heard, and link to other writers whose work I admire.
Letters to Rebecca
Rebecca is another writer on Substack, and she and I correspond with each other on Wednesdays. Here’s the index to all the letters so far. You should definitely check her newsletter out, because she’s a great writer.
I hope some of this appeals to you. If some does and some doesn’t, you can easily select which sections you want or don’t want to receive.
I'm loving the vibe you've got going—looking forward to more cafe adventures and letters to Rebecca. Your cat looks like the boss, an OG!
