As I was completely useless at art in school (and just about every other subject apart from English and Economics), whenever I wanted to illustrate anything I either used photos I’d taken or drawn a cartoon. To my astonishment, people seem to like the latter. I discovered that when, in a rare moment, I looked at the stats in my Flickr account and found that this cartoon has been viewed nearly 21,000 times:

I thought people might find it interesting, perhaps even useful, to learn how I create cartoons these days. I say “these days” because I use different methods depending on what I wish to depict. At the moment my approach is as follows.
